Basic Instructions
1. Open the jpeg file in Adobe Photoshop
2. Edit > Define Pattern
Using the pattern as a brush texture
1. Select the brush tool
2. Open the Brushes Pallet (Window > Brushes)
3. Select the Textures options by clicking on the word Texture
4. Select the texture by clicking on the the small icon of a texture. An icon list of loaded textures will appear. The new texture will be at the end of the list. Click on it to select it.
Basic Settings
Scale: 100%
Invert: unchecked
Brightness: 0
Contrast: 0
Texture Each Tip: unchecked
Mode: Subtract
Experiment A: Change the Scale
Paint one color at 100%. Change the scale to 90% and paint over the first color with a new color. The scale change shifts the texture so that it does not align with the first color thus allowing the bottom color to show through the spaces of the second color.
