Ergodicity, as simple as possible [talk]
Last year, I published a book on ergodicity. It got great reviews (see below) and gathered lot of interest. Ergodicity is an important concept and more people should know about how it invisibly impacts their lives.
Hence I decided to hold a 60-minutes talk to introduce the concept with practical examples and simple language, without resorting to the complex formulas and investing applications traditionally used to describe ergodicity. Only plain language and down-to-earth examples.
Who is this talk for?
This talk is for everyone who wants to understand what ergodicity is and why it matters, and wants to learn about it in practical terms without having to do with the excessive complexity and academic style of most papers available on the topic.
Luca is well known for explaining complex concepts in practical and down-to-earth terms, resorting to everyday examples rather than convoluted formulas.
What are the contents?
Walking away from the talk, you will have a basic understanding of what ergodicity is and why it matters. You will have learned a few practical examples to explain ergodicity to your friends and grandparents.
Is this talk based on the book?
This talk contains excerpts from the first three chapters of my book on ergodicity, plus additional examples not covered in the book.
It is not a substitute for the book – in fact, after the talk you might want to read it to gain a deeper understanding and to learn about the three strategies to manage non-ergodicity in your daily life.
Is there any math involved?
No math beyond 3rd grade – basic additions and averages. Nothing that a 10-years-old couldn't understand.
