1. Open in Adobe Photoshop

2. Edit > Define Pattern

1. Select the brush tool

2. Open the Brushes Pallet (Window > Brushes)

3. Select the Textures options by clicking on the word Texture

4. Select the texture by clicking on the the small icon of a texture. An icon list of loaded textures will appear. The new texture will be at the end of the list. Click on it to select it.

Paint one color at 100%. Change the scale to 90% and paint over the first color with a new color. The scale change shifts the texture so that it does not align with the first color thus allowing the bottom color to show through the spaces of the second color.

Experiment B: Rotate the Canvas

Rotate Canvas (Image > Rotate Canvas > 90°cw)

Paint for awhile and rotate back to the original orientation (Image > Rotate Canvas > 90°ccw)
