Overture

Through the years many top notch, professional journalists have approached me about writing articles about my pioneering work, Human BioAcoustics. Invariably we would meet; sometimes, multi-hour interviews were requested. Months would go by until eventually the authors would come back to me explaining that they could not get their mind around the incredible work we were doing. The implications were too vast, the outcomes too extraordinary. The genre had much ancient history; and too much of mankind’s future at stake for them to be able to create any meaningful composition. The idea that sounds, without accompanying music, have potential to be an efficient healing modality was more than they could comprehend. The concept that frequency could have created our universe and could be used to allow dominion over our biology and our DNA was a notion far afield from their reality.

I was far less than cautiously hopeful when Jill Mattson approached me to write a book about our work with sound and frequency-based biomarkers. I had read Jill’s previous book about healing and knew that she had a depth of knowledge about the history of ancient sound. We met to discuss some ideas but I had little faith that anything would ever come from our exchange.

I was astonished, shortly thereafter, when Jill delivered a 400 page manuscript that encompassed my early life and history. It included a narrative of the initial development of the processes of Vocal Profiling right through to our most advanced data and strategies dealing with the effects of sound on human physiology and psychology. I was overwhelmed with appreciation that finally someone understood our efforts. Jill understood our work from an outsider’s perspective, and as well as any insider who had been working with us for the last twenty years.

I was stunned at how she had originally woven all of our information into a compelling story about future medicine while simultaneously lacing it with ancient mystery school philosophies.

Jill, as an amateur writer, has brought together a unique awareness of Human BioAcoustics that professionals could not manage. Perhaps, it is her perspective as a violin performance aficionado that provides her with such an uninhibited view of what it takes to allow the soul to perceive sound as both pleasure and wellness. Now through Jill’s publication about our work with BioAcoustic Biology, the rest of the world may benefit from what we have known for the past few decades.

A little bit about the book

I first met Sharry Edwards in the fall of 2008 in Columbus, Ohio. She was soft-spoken and reserved, but the power of her presence and the feeling of quiet strength she radiated immediately struck me. I knew of Sharry’s reputation from my years of study on the healing ability of sound. After meeting Sharry in person, I immediately wanted to include a chapter on her in an upcoming book. But after I began to digest the wealth of information I uncovered during my research, it became clear I could write several books on her alone. Since the realities in my life do not permit me the time for several books, I tried to condense the information into this one.

This book is organized into three parts. The book can be read cover to cover in the order it is presented, however that may not be for everyone. Part One: Sharry’s Story, is aimed at the general reader. This section gives a brief biography of Sharry and presents her basic work and accomplishments in a nontechnical presentation. We see important events that affected her early development and the foundations of BioAcoustics. Part Two: Technical Details, continues where Part One left off but contains more challenging technical content. This part of the book can be read selectively depending upon the reader’s background and interest level (It could be a reference source for more advanced sound enthusiasts). Finally, Part Three: Applications, focuses on how one can learn more about Sharry’s pioneering work and start to apply her methods. Here I explore free beneficial applications of using sound in your voice that fit compatibly with Sharry’s teachings. This section is intended for those interested in immediately starting with their own explorations of the benefits of BioAcoustics, and better health through sound.

Finally, I want to thank Sharry and her gracious colleagues, workers, family and friends for their time, openness and indispensable help in writing this book. I think it's a brilliant book, one that I instantly wanted to share, but didn't let out of my hands for longer than a few hours... then I read it again, then I flicked through my favorite sections. You could say I became a little possessive! I now have several copies of Jill's book that friends haven't returned yet. I'm guessing that it had the same effect on them. So much new information is presented in Jill's Secret Sounds book, that it was a lot for me to take in all at once!

I bought the book in November 2012 and since reading it twice, have participated in many of Sharry Edward's free online workshops at SoundHealthInc.org, downloaded free software and become a BioAcoustics Research Associate myself, with successes already! I love what Jill has done for BioAcoustics and furthering the work Sharry does. Sharry is a brilliant woman, with a huge heart, but sadly unrecognised for her contribution, but happily ripped off by many and varied people and organisations. I think it's high time Sharry received some recognition for her pioneering work in BioAcoustics and meeting Jill was a blessing for all of us. It was the book was the key to introduce me to her work.

Jill is an incredibly talented woman - multi talented, as you will see soon enough. I love the healing flower frequencies she weaves into music (!!) and similarly, Jill does what she does, purely for the joy of it.

I think that this book is fantastic. The Author takes a complex subject matter and breaks it down so it is enjoyable, enlightening and useful. I loved the book for I am considering the training being offered by Sharry Edwards. The story of her life and the following chapters convinced me to move forward and take Sharry's courses. Jill defines difficult concepts with ease and holds you spellbound and wanting to learn more. I was captivating starting with the first chapter. If you are interested in alternative, holistic healing then you will definitely not want to miss reading this book!

At this time many individuals find themselves having to endure health issues that cannot be healed or stay healed for want to trying. They wander from doctor to doctor but fail to find appropriate relief for their malady. Some individuals, while being okay health wise, just don't feel great or find themselves having a perpetually low energy level.

Secret Sounds - Ultimate Healing was written to explain the history, technical development, and application of sound to address a wide range of health issues. The book provides information on the fact that the universe we inhabit uses sound vibrations of various frequencies, rhythms, different pitches and volumes to control everything. However, most of the frequencies applied fall outside the hearing range of the human ear; the reason it is so easy to miss understanding the importance of the type and quality of the vibrations in which we immerse ourselves each day.

At times when we experience a problem in our physical body the origin of the disease is in our emotional or mental body. Research has proven that when we correctly apply sounds within our human hearing range with understanding and correct intention, permanent healing is brought about in the physical, emotional and mental realms.

Jill Mattson skillfully explains a technically rich subject in a way that even the most technically challenged individual will find easy to grasp.

After reading this book individuals who have been trained to play Western instruments will understand the reason the instruments and music theory with which they are familiar does not help them understand or be able to create music for relaxation and meditation.

Parents who have a child that is battling to settle down to an easy school life may also find this book to be of great help to broadening their options for helping their child.

Skeptics of complementary health practices may also wish to learn more about the value of `all that vibrational stuff.'

Ultimately, the reader will understand that the quality of a person's voice broadcasts to the world their open and hidden secrets - and the reader may then choose to use toning and other awarenesses to improve their individual message to the world, and so improve the relationships they have within the world at large. For me this 278-page book was a fantastic read!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how it is broken up into different sections and explains the techniques of our ancient past being integrated into the present and future technology. How wonderful to know that the sounds of our bodies can be interpreted and corrected, so that we sing in harmony without side effects. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for options to health and wellbeing. It is very well written and the information is verifiable. We are going to need affordable options for self care, as the health care becomes diluted and rationed in the near future.

I read the scathing review of Sharry Edwards. It was obvious to me that this person had a personal issue. After reading the book and investigating for myself, I will join Sharry Edwards in her quest to promote Bio-Acoustics and make this valuable modality available to those who need this service by becoming a practitioner.

I liked the book and had a hard time putting it down. It was not too technical, but very informative. And how refreshing to see another alternative modality out there that gives people other options besides "ask your doctor" or another medicine that eventually gets pulled off the market, or worse, shows up as the subject of a personal injury add. Since most people don't know what "sound healing" is and since those who have heard of it most often assume it has to do with Tibetan or other bowl techniques, it is nice to have a book that can let people know just how important Sharry Edward's 30+ years of work is, in its own right. Her story is worthy of movie-treatment, but we will have to settle, for now, with this wonderful book. Thanks Jill for this book.
