(Okay, so I wrote this back when Simon and Paula were on American Idol, but people still remember and writing Steven Tyler's dialog would change the rating to R!)

PURPOSE:
When you worship, who do you worship?

LOCATION:
Audition Room

PROPS:
A table and three chairs for our judges.

CHARACTERS:
—An honest and straight-forward judge
—A sympathetic and optimistic judge
—A cool and hip judge
—An arrogant singer
– A well meaning but terrible singer
– A child with a sweet voice. Sweet at first then cops an attitude.

TIME:
5-6 minutes (depending on the length of the songs)

PRODUCTION NOTE:
The impressions don’t have to be dead-on. People will get it. If the Simon character has a British accent it would help

THOUGHTS:
Did you ever have one of those songs that you loved, but everyone else thought it was stupid? You love the words, melody and instrumentation, but nobody else gets it. The song of Pride is a lot like that. Sounds good to us, but not to anyone else. We love singing our own tune, at the top of our lungs. Others don’t like, usually because they are singing their own tune.

Not a lot of room to love ourselves when Jesus asks us to love God with everything we have. God hates our selfish tunes.

Pride ruins many a person. They get kicked off the show.

What does our tune sound like?  Is it for our glory or God's?

THEMES
IDOLS, PRAISE, WORSHIP, SELFISHNESS.
