The COVID-19 pandemic has created both challenges and opportunities for community-based health agencies to promote behavior change or provide systematic instruction from a distance. This struggle is particularly significant for those professionals working with cohorts who cannot realize the full potential of social media or web-based platforms, including individuals with autism. Individuals on the autism spectrum are particularly vulnerable to health disparities in the current environment and, at the same time, must continue to strive for independence in the activities of daily living. To bypass the challenges of social distancing and limited resources, Community Support Services, Inc. has created an 11-part video series on creating inclusive food preparation activities for individuals with autism who are currently house-bound. The videos offer pragmatic tips regarding ten food-related activities that occur naturally in residential kitchens and which are ideal for supporting independence.
