My name is Devin Elle Kurtz. I've been painting animals as a professional illustrator for 8 years. In this tutorial, I take you through my process of creating loose and expressive animal portraits. Learning to create these quick and effective portraits has been a turning point for me in my career, and has benefitted my larger paintings immensely. 

This is an examination of many of the techniques I commonly use in my wild cat portraiture. It covers layer styles and effects I use to achieve results, my techniques for lighting & glow, brush creation, texture and color variation, eye and paw drawing, etc.
