A Portuguesa is the official national anthem of Portugal. Alfredo Keil wrote the music in 1890 amidst the British Ultimatum to Portugal, where there was a strong resurgence of their nationalist movement. It became the marching song of the republican rebellion of January 1891 and was later adopted as the national anthem of the Portuguese Republic in 1911. Previously, "Hino de Carta" was the anthem of the defunct constitutional monarchy. This beautiful piano arrangement of A Portuguesa will have you singing and marching with pride!
