It is a rare moment of beseeching prayer for the composer. Muthuswami Dikshitar asks Jambukeshwara the deity of Tiruvanaikovil to bestow on him ‘nijananda amrutha bodham’. The krithi reflects this state of bliss in its meaning and breath taking musical structure. Jambupathe is easily the fulcrum of this concert of N.Vijay Siva, sung for Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha(Vani Mahal) at Chennai on 6th Jan 2016. The neraval at ‘sarvajeeva dayaakara shambho’ assumes special poignancy since the concert happened soon after the devastating floods of 2015. The artist and his accompanists meld and melt into universal prayer, drawing listeners into their fold effortlessly.

Nijanandam also has a splendid Karaharapriya with ‘Chakkani raja’ as the main piece and what follows is certainly a ‘raja marga’ tani avartanam with maestro Trichy Shankaran leading the way through melodic and mystical rhythm.

Nijanandam concludes with the Kandar Anubhoothi of Shri Arunagirinathar – a rarity on concert platforms, as a tribute to Kanchi Mahaswami on the day of his aradhana at the auditorium named after him.
