PanelxPanel #4 - Mister Miracle

PanelxPanel is a new digital magazine celebrating the medium of comics. It’s edited by Strip Panel Naked host Hass Otsmane-Elhaou, and features a rotating set of writers ranging from critics to professionals, fans and comic stores.

Each issue has two halves across it's 70+ ad-free pages. The first, a focus on a particular comic and featuring a series of essays, interviews, process pieces and an exclusive Strip Panel Naked column all focused around that comic. The fourth issue covers DC’s Mister Miracle, by Tom King and Mitch Gerads, with letters by Clayton Cowles.

The second half features regular articles, with creator-on-creator interviews, craft essays, a short comic, and a series of comic recommendations from a range of comic-related voices.

This is a true celebration of the medium with every issue, looking at all the elements that make comics an interesting art form and great place to tell visual stories. This is a magazine that cares about comics.

This fourth issue features an interview with King and Gerads on their work, as well as a series of in-depth articles about the work. Topics include the role of illusion and performance in the narrative, it's use of retro color and stylings, and an exclusive Strip Panel Naked on it's storytelling approach.

For the regular features, David Baillie (2000AD, Red Thorn) takes on the Final Thoughts column, discussing what his favorite comic endings taught him as a writer.
Elsa Charretier (Unstoppable Wasp) interviews Chris Brunner (Southern Bastards, Loose Ends) for CreatorxCreator.
Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye, Jem) answers 5 Questions, and Alison Sampson discusses creating her wraparound covers for Winnebago Graveyard.
There's also a short comic, and a whole host of recommendations from writers, artists, fans, critics and shops.
