Contrapunctus Saxophonus - Saxophone Quartet (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bari)

The four movements are each composed with a separate type of contrapuntal writing, with the name of each movement describing the techniques used. “Lyrical” features a free contrapuntal style. “Chorale” uses a hymn-like style; the texture is more homophonic but the harmonies change quickly enough that a polyphonic sound is also present. “Invention” follows the tradition of a Bach two-part invention, while “Reflection” uses symmetry and interval inversion to create a contrapuntal texture.
