Battle Map for Army Level War-Games

This poster-sized map is taken from the Ferraris maps of Belgium which Napoleon used during the Waterloo Campaign.  This file has been designed for use in model war-games and is optimized to be compatible with the Forward March Studios Library.

The Ferraris maps were created in 1770-1774 as part of a military survey conducted by the Austrian Netherlands artillery corps, led by Count de Ferraris.  This map is only a small portion of the Ferraris maps, which include almost all of modern day Belgium.  The maps have great value both as a work of art and as an aid for anyone interested in tactical considerations at the time of the Napoleonic Wars.  These maps can also be used as a gaming surface by printing them off and placing them underneath a piece of plexiglas, then moving model soldiers around on top.  

This particular map does not represent a historic battlefield, but is rather presented due to its balanced mix of terrain.  It is ideal for use in fictional campaigns and in one-off games.  When printed out at full size this map is approximately 46" x 32", so it is printable at full size on a 48" x 36" piece of paper.  The scale is optimized for playing brigade level games with micro-scale miniatures, where 25mm on the map is equal to approximately 330m on the ground.  The actual area covered by the map is roughly 15 kilometers by 10 kilometers, or 9 miles by 6 miles.  This map should provide enough space to game fictional battles using the largest historical orders of battle from the Napoleonic Age. 

Some minor imperfections in the image stitching are present but these will not impact the map's utility as a game aid or even it's use as a decoration.
