Gridify UVs on selected faces. Faces are mapped into symmetrical squares or aspect ratio correct rectangles and sewn together automatically. A great way to speed up UV mapping and quickly gridify tricky shapes.
WARNING before using these scripts:
If you're using Maya 2018 please install service pack 6 or later
If you're using Maya 2017 please install service pack 5 or later
FEATURES:
-Only works on quads
-Selected faces are mapped into a grid of squares in one click
-Selected faces are mapped into a grid of aspect correct rectangles in one click
-Aspect correct gridify only works on face selections that form a square, rectangle, or strip. Saw tooth and stair stepped selections are not currently supported, but do work with the regular gridify into squares tool
-Creates better faster results than Maya's straighten UVs tool because faces are UV mapped rather than trying to straighten existing UVs which is slow and error prone
-UV edges won't collapse onto themselves like Maya's built in straighten UVs tool
-If the newly created grid of UV's is facing the wrong way click the button a second time to rotate it by 90 degrees to save time
-Works on cylindrical shapes without geometry border edges. Select faces and shift select edges in multi mode to use as the UV border
-Doesn't affect parts of the model that have already been UV mapped
-Free updates, includes any improvements made to the script after purchase, download the same file again to get the update
-Tested on Maya 2023, 2022, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, LT, Student
-Works on PC and Mac
