Foundlings Chapbook Contest And Artist Residency - 2017

We're accepting submissions of original poetry through October 1st, from writers both established and emerging. We will announce our selection in November and invite the winner to meet with this year's guest book designer, the Philadelphia-based artist Steve Fitzmaurice, for a weekend residency (Nov. 17-19) at Hotel Henry in Buffalo, NY. The pair will collaborate on the finished product, which will appear in a limited edition run of 200 copies. The writer and the guest artist each will receive 10 copies and 10% of all future sales. We will return to Hotel Henry for the chapbook launch party in early January.

We are accepting manuscripts between 10 and 50 pages long. As always, we are open to poems of any style. Readers familiar with our previous publications know that we delight in language that is like a newborn -- wholly original, human, ready to be loved, occasionally loud, and red with potential.

Because we're a (very!) small press with modest sales, we cannot presently afford a submission management system. Because of that, we're only accepting submissions from writers who've paid an entry fee through this page, and then emailed a manuscript to foundlingszine@gmail.com. (We will be checking the names of submissions against the list of paid entry fees.) We won't give you nothing for something, though: Besides the chance to win publication and a residency at a stunning architectural gem and urban resort, entrants also get a digital download of Foundlings Vol. 3 (which is a superb magazine - everyone says so). Double down on your entry fee to purchase a craft coffee beverage or cheap beer at your local watering hole to enjoy alongside the poetry.
