Experience the joy and well-being of coloring mandalas.

I created the eight (8) original symmetry mandalas in this 11" x 8.5" PDF Mandala Coloring eBook with simpler, more child-like themes, each mandala comes with its own unique message.

THE DESIGNS

  • I based the outer edge "Aztec" on a recurring design theme I witnessed on many older buildings throughout Manhattan, NY; the rest of it just fell into place and in the end gave it an ancient Aztec feel to it.
  • The "Balloons" mandala shows a duality of designs...the obvious abstract looking balloons and the negative space between them that makes a snowflake-like pattern.
  • "Bangles" consists of a variety of angular shapes symmetrically placed throughout the design; while it appears these shapes are all connected, they mostly float separate from each other...it makes coloring them that much more interesting and fun.
  • The "Circle" mandala reminds me of the decorative balls you usually see circus animals use as part of their act. It also reminds me of the big wooden wheels of the old-time wagons used to parade the animals when the circus comes to town.
  • For "Looking Glass" I envisioned all these differently little mirrors inlaid in a mosaic; each mirror giving you a different perspective, a different look at all the possibilities.
  • For "Pinwheel", I remember as a kid playing with pinwheels, I also enjoy them in my garden as a summer breeze catches the pinwheel just right to make it spin.
  • For "Sunrise", I created a simple, abstract design of a sunrise, the start of a new day.
  • "Swirly" came about from a playful doodle session...there is something about twirly, spinning things that taps into the child-like wonder and joy of play.

Happy Coloring!

THE PROCESS

I create my own mandala designs by first hand sketching them with pencil and paper, then using a graphics tablet and stylus, I draw the mandala into the computer. I then convert the digital images into a PDF document

MY STORY

I began creating mandalas in early 1999 after a 10-day trip to Egypt. Through much of that region of the world patterns and symbols decorated just about every structure I visited, whether ancient, old or new. My analytical mind loved the geometry of the Islamic art and the Egyptian hieroglyphics. My heart and soul loved their elegant and symbolic beauty.

When I returned home, I began seeing patterns and symbols in everything around me, even in my dreams. I proceeded to translate these intriguing ideas into mandalas. In early 2000 I learned to use meditation as a way to access the depth of these mandalas, fully exploring their therapeutic and metaphysical natures.
