Race Relations and Class Divisions

Throughout history we have struggled with the nature of race, ethnicity, and class. As human beings, weak in nature and prone to err, our lack of understanding has led us to value the color of one’s skin, lineage of one’s family, and/or level of one’s income more than the content of one’s character. By doing so we find ourselves prone to prejudice and oppression. To alleviate such divisive tensions and avoid disaster we must seek to gain perspective on our origins as human beings, the construction of our racial and ethnic identities, and our direction as Allāh’s creatures.

In this 4 part Friday sermon series, Abu Ibrahim J. Starling discusses the Islamic perspective on how to reach a more just and fair view of such topics.

Titles include:

1. Justice in Islam

2. Race and Ethnicity

3. Extinguishing the Fires of Racism

4. The Cure of Classism
