The Bride's Farewell (Finland)

I first heard this beautiful tune decades ago on a recording featuring the kantale, a traditional instrument from Finland. The tune requires some gymnastic but do-able hammering in order to capture the melody and the chord progression. This three part piece in A aeolian (Am) culminates in the C part with the relative major (C) but concludes with Am. There is a lot here to keep you entertained and challenged. It makes for a great ensemble piece. The world music trio Helicon recorded The Bride’s Farewell on Horizons (1993).
