Defining a Self: Enduring Triangles Following a Family Death
Stanley Proffitt, BS
December 18, 2017
This conversation will examine the effort to define a self in response to family triangles following the death of a parent, where cutoff and intense triangles existed. The emotional process continues following the death of a father. The presenter will share efforts to continue connecting with family members from whom the father was emotionally cutoff and define self in relation to the mother, who sustains the cutoff from the father’s family. The main goal has been to remain responsible for self and engaged with members of the family while affording others the latitude to function for self.
