PBR Calibration Tool v0.1 (alpha)
Free for non-commercial use.
This is a tool for calibrating colours and exposure levels using a Macbeth chart (i.e. X-rite ColorChecker Passport)
It's intended for calibration of PBR textures, but could be used by anyone who needs accurate colours and exposure levels.
You will probably get a warning from Windows when you install this because I haven't purchased a trusted software certificate.
User guide
- Start by loading your Color Checker Image. This should ideally be a 16-bit file, or a raw file. Check raw file conversion for raw files.
- position the grid over the color-checker by moving the blue corner points
- (optional) Change options. It's usually best to use "Linearize" with non-raw images.
- Click Calculate. This updates the average Error. A good value is around 1-2.
- (optional) Preview the colour transformation
- You can either save the reference image, or save a target image (without colorchecker, but with same exposure settings)
Future versions might include:
- automated chart detection
- batching
- 32-bit support?
- different reference chart types
