The DIN 33450 graphic symbol (used in the EDPB template) to indicate observation with optical-electronic equipment (video surveillance sign) was designed in 2004 on the initiative of Frankfurt Airport in order to ensure internationally uniform and understandable marking for video-monitored areas.
It's applied at the national level in Germany.
