CVC Words Matching Mats

These CVC matching games are a great way for beginning readers to practice word reading. There is one mat that focuses on each of the 5 short vowel sounds and two mats for mixed practice. One page equals one new literacy activity! This is an instant independent literacy center activity. Great for Word Work in Daily 5! It's easy to use. Students will match the picture to the word!

I suggest working on one vowel sound at a time until children master and feel successful. Then add the next mat.

Word Reading is one of the Kindergarten skills tested on the TPRI, Texas Primary Reading Inventory, at the End of Year assessment.

Color coding on each mat helps cards stay organized.

The visuals can also be used as a resource in a writing center to support students in writing simple sentences.
