7-8 Grid Patterns

Gridding is one of the most powerful practice tools in a percussionist's toolbox. Once you've mastered your 16th note and triplet gridding patterns, try your hand at the 7-8 Grid.

This handout gives you the notation for the basic framework. as well as 24 of the most common substitutions you can insert into this grid. If you can master these, not only will you have these variations in your drumming arsenal - you'll see the fun is only starting!
