While studying the API sector for the last five years some companies, tools, formats, and people stand out along the way. Shortly after I started tracking on the world of APIs in 2010, I began assembling what I'd consider to be some of the most significant milestones in the short history of web APIs. Five years later, I work to update this history regularly, forcing me to step back to see what is making the biggest impact when it comes to APIs.
