Every city has its secrets. Even New York City.

For the last century, reports have been trickling in from workers in the New York City subway system. Sightings of thin, pale creatures running at tremendous speeds in the NYC subway tunnels, then disappearing out of view. Because the reports have been unsubstantiated, Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) officials have kept the lid on them, dismissing them as hallucination. The sightings, however, are real.

Hundreds of feet below the NYC subway system, they exist. The watchers. Their superhuman abilities have enabled them to live and thrive in this subterranean world. Yet, to preserve and to protect the integrity of their race, they are prohibited from contact with the world above.

One such watcher, Egan has always felt different from his clan. To remedy his sense of isolation, he finds catharsis in photographing NYC subway riders from his perch deep within the subway tunnel. After witnessing an horrific assault and being scolded by his father for not intervening, Egan promises that he will do something the next time he sees a situation unfold. A week later, he's given an opportunity to make that promise good when he witnesses a beautiful young actress in a crisis situation.

His bold act sets into motion a chain of events that will change his life forever.
