Reverse-T End (left opening)

Do you need a blunt ending for your three-strand braid? Maybe you are making a strip rug and don't want fringes? Here is a technique brand new to the world of rug braiding - a way of ending a braid that is sudden, rather than tapering, and looks very similar to a T-start, with one strand buried inside the folds of another strand, but with the seams hidden.

I begin by demonstrating a quick machine-stitched T-start, and then take you through the steps of pinning, cutting and mostly machine-stitched sewing to completion. There is a bit of hand basting to do before rebraiding, but I promise it is much easier than the old way. With a little practice you can complete these fairly quickly.

Many thanks to braider Sandy Busby for sharing her discovery of an easier way to rebraid this!

With a few common sewing tools, this 19- minute video, and the accompanying pdf of written instruction, you can learn to easily make this securely enclosed blunt end.
