THOUGHTS:
Not everything Jesus said was easy, especially in John 16:7-11:

But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Jesus promised to send His Holy Spirit, a counselor who convicts of guilt, righteousness and judgment.  Gee, thanks a lot Jesus.  That’s all we need is more guilt!

Actually, He’s right.  We need an internal guide, an objective observer, who can hold us accountable and point out our faults.  Without that component in our lives, we will continue to sin and stray further from God.  The Holy Spirit keeps us near, reminding us of our need to get things right with our Father.

It won’t be easy, but it will be best for us.  It is so necessary, that even Jesus says that He needs to get out of way, so the Holy Spirit can get to work.
