In the not-too-distant future, displays are captured on glasses and contacts. Implants allow people to control their pocket computers through thought. Memories are stored and can be reviewed, but they have not yet been written or altered. Until Lorelai figures out how.

Picking up where Chapter 6 left off, we return to Lorelai, who is having a memory bleed left over from Slade's program. John is on the hunt for Reuben, but he isn't the only one. And who is the mysterious recruiter that is tagging along with Lorelai now?
