About the Webinar

It has been identified at St. Louis Community College, the introduction to biology class is taken by a high number of students, and many of them either fail or withdraw. Couple this with an unhealthy environment, not only are unsuccessful students a concern, an unhealthy community is a concern. This pilot program was created by a biology professor and a nutrition professor, based on research supporting integration of life skills into general education courses. This session will share biology and nutrition blended lessons and projects, other "drop in" nutrition lessons for sociology, psychology, and art classes. These examples and discussion are relevant for nutrition educators and students to create or enhance the presence of nutrition expertise and further cultivate healthy behaviors and attitudes of individuals- crucial for building community capacity.
