48 Prequalified Welding Procedure Specifications developed in conformance with AWS D1.1/D1.1M:2020 Structural Welding Code - Steel.  These welding procedures cover Group I & II steels for thicknesses range from 1/8-inch to unlimited thickness.  Procedures are provided for both E6010 and E7018 electrodes.  Procedures for all positions as well as fillet welds, lap weld, partial joint penetration weld and complete joint penetration welds are provided.

NOTE: This is not a physical book.  It is an eBook provided as a PDF file

What's Included:

48 Prequalified Welding Procedure Specifications - these procedures were written in conformance with AWS D1.1 for use with the shielded metal arc welding process (SMAW).  The procedures cover the following:

Welding Positions:        ALL

Material Thicknesses:  1/8-inch to unlimited thickness

Welding Process:         Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)

Electrodes:                    E6010 and E7018

Weld Types:                  Fillet, Lap, Partial Joint Penetration & Complete Joint Penetration                                           Groove Welds

This publication provides more than just Welding Procedure Specifications.  It also provides the user with the following information:

  • How to make changes to the prequalified procedures and still remain in conformance with AWS D1.1 requirements
  • Step-by-step instructions on how to create new prequalified welding procedures to cover other applications
  • Charts to determine is the base metals being welded required preheat based on AWS D1.1
  • Explanation of key terms and definitions as provided in AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code
  • Joint details and tolerances per AWS D1.1 of the most common joints used in metal fabrication

Our goal at Welding Answers is to provide technical and engineering assistance to the welding industry.  Specifically we look to help small to medium size fabricators that do not have enough resources to have welding engineers, welding inspectors or other welding experts on staff.  In some cases, most of our readers and customers can't even afford to hire consultants.  We provide information that is potentially worth thousands of dollars at very low prices.  We can do this because all of our products are in electronic format.  There is no need for us to travel.  There is no need for customization and therefore no additional time to make the product fit your needs.

In the case of welding procedures, if you have looked into the cost of qualification following the requirements of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code (Steel) you probably know the costs of developing and qualifying a single procedure can easily reach $1,000.  This code allows fabricators to use Prequalified Welding Procedure Specifications.  These are procedures that, if developed following the many strict requirements of Clause 5  of AWS D1.1 can  be used in production without the need for costly qualification testing.  However, you need to be very familiar with the code in order to do so.  Most fabricators end up paying consultants to write these procedures for them.  The cost of this ranges from $175 to $250 per welding procedure.

These procedures can be very broad or very specific.  We have chosen to write 48 very specific procedures in order to give the user the ability to use optimal procedures based on material thickness, electrode type, electrode size and welding position.

All 48 prequalified welding procedures are yours for only $297.  That is the cost of 2 procedures if you go out and hire a consultant or if you were to purchase it from online services that have extensive libraries of procedures.
