Rumbling Quadrille (Traditional, Denmark)

0 ratings

This piece from Denmark has been on my radar for years. I first heard it from The Irish duo Buttons and Bows. Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Hass also recorded it. The 4-part tune uses only four chords but the construction tells an extremely satisfying story culminating in the last part. The last part offers us a great demonstration how to take a melody and reinterpret the chord progression to construct an exciting rising bass line. Play the tune in at least two octaves. The backup is a combination of harmony, groove and bass lines. Find someone to jam on this piece and be sure to have the backup ready. I also present a bunch of variations!
