ART IS ABOUT MEANINGFUL CONNECTION, to us here at Design Kompany. In addition to traveling the world for one year now to make Atelier S P A C E programmes, we are now starting to publish printed zines. We've been publishing works of creative nonfiction and eBooks under the label Kismuth Books since 2014. Columns have appeared in: Seattle's , Charlotte, NC's , and Amritsar's . But now, we're bringing limited editions of our co-created written works to the space of print, too. Enter 'zines.'

What are zines? At first, these small books may seem like they're just pieces of paper. But they're much, much more than that. The value of the conversations that lead to the stories held within these pages is, in fact, priceless. Sharing the real and honest stories of who we are, where we live, and how we feel with one another when we meet in real life is a beautiful moment. The zines are our way to encapsulate and highlight the 'best of' from our many meanders, rambles, and ambles through the world in search of 'the story.' Or, more specifically, 'the magic moment.' In which art becomes clearly present. 'Art, to me, is a conversation. The sender and receiver are locked in a timeless, wordless space, the quality of which only they can know,' says DK's Dipika Kohli, who hosted all the ateliers, salons and workshops in the Finland series from June-August 2018.

We are happy to offer a very limited set of zines by postal mail. S P A C E || Finland (pictured) is a very special collection, as issues of this are available in limited-editions of 1, 3, and 5. What's inside, you maybe wondering? Yes. Our research and discovery got us to the place of learning more and more about the feelings of summer, of midsummer especially, that Finnish people love to share about when (and if) you can get them talking openly. It's a world of quiet spaces, natural beauty, but also deep unrest, too. How the conversations began is always a mystery to us here at DK, but where they go and how we knit them together into short, packed works of creative nonfiction is the enjoyable journey that you can experience while settling in for a nice cup of tea and reading through the collection. Learn more about the conversations that led to the creation of S P A C E || Finland, and how the final thread got decided, in a new post at DK's blog, here.

The stories are: 'Letting Go of Dead Things,' 'Michaela,' 'Kesärakkausjuttu' ('A Summer Love Story') and'Hei Kesä' ('Hi Summer'). They're written by members of Atelier S P A C E || Finland: Alexis Jokela, and Dipika Kohli.
