Topple the Monopoly on Childbirth--Faster!

If I could work on toppling the monopoly on childbirth exclusively, I would! But I have to support my work (researching, writing, working with press, and instigating people on social media!) by doing other things that actually put food on the table.

Your support here allows me spend more time doing what I really have a passion for, and what I believe could make a real change in American maternity care. For 2015, my goals are:

- To release a handful of shorter blog articles aimed at giving women tools to access options in birth--starting with "Get Your Insurance to Pay for Your Midwife"

- A report on birth in Alabama, the state with the lowest home birth rate in the country and some of the tightest, ugliest restrictions on how women give birth

- "A Lesson in Obstetric Violence" and a campaign to get obstetric violence in national media. This is a lofty goal, but I'm up for it.
