Dean Tavoularis

Although born in Lowell, Massachusetts, to Greek immigrant parents, Tavoularis spent his entire childhood and teenage years in Los Angeles, in the shade of the Hollywood studios. He studied architecture and painting at different art schools and landed a job at the Disney Studios first as an 'in-betweener in the animation department, and later as a storyboard artist.

The Book

A unique exhibition on a concept conceived, planned and produced by Attiki Cultural Society, was organized in collaboration with the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art and the International Film Festival of Thessaloniki, presenting the entire film work of the ingenious Dean Tavoularis.

For the very first time internationally, all the story boards he designed for the films starting from “Bonnie and Clyde” and “Zabriskie Point” to the “Godfather”, “Apocalypse Now”, “Rumble Fish” etc. were exhibited illustrating his productive collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola, Michelangelo Antonioni, Arthur Penn, Roman Polanski, Wim Wenders and not only.
