You get 25 lessons in eight weeks. You'll build a plot board and learn how to write a synopsis, plus get a DIY-MFA-level education in story structure.

HOW IT WORKS

The Plotting Workshop is a self-paced course, although it was designed to finish in eight weeks.

Here's a look at the curriculum:

In the first week we look at your story's inspirations (this is ALWAYS everyone's favorite exercise. It's starts everything off with an eye-opening bang.) We also work on characters and setting.

Then we use Christopher Vogler's book The Writer's Journey to develop your story's structure using the twelve steps of the hero's journey.

Next you pin point your story's 5 Key Plot Points.

Once you have those important scenes nailed down, we'll work on developing thirty scenes that will take you through your whole story.

My personal favorite part of this course is helping you to build a plot board and fill it with all of the scenes that are the building blocks to your novel.

Finally, I'll teach you how to write a synopsis that will be your road map through your story.

My name is Shaunta Grimes. I'm the author of Viral Nation and Rebel Nation, published in 2013 and 2014 by Penguin. I studied writing at the University of Nevada and Goddard College.
