In this second of seven monthly Conversations & Mini-Retreats in our New Story Journey, we will delve into the second of the six shadow stories that shape our lives and our world. Along with headline sessions with author/activists Melvin Bray, Vance Blackfox and Gareth Higgins, workshops with David Peters, Lesley Carroll, Neil Orts, and the Modern Mystery School, and music by K Stellar Dutcher, we will explore the common cultural narrative of Revenge and Retribution - "us overthrowing and punishing them," which so often simply perpetuates the cycles of violence and oppression it seeks to overcome. The new story of Restorative Justice opposes systems of oppression and discrimination without simply replacing them with more of the same - instead seeking a shared future in which harm is undone, victims receive healing, and perpetrators are redeemed and restored.
