This is “Healing Us”, a visual exploration of Black mental health in America and how Black generational trauma can be linked back to the institution of slavery. ‬Many know there is a mental health crisis in America, but the intersection of race and mental health seems as though it is not discussed enough especially with the prevalence of untreated mental illnesses among the African American community and rising suicide rates among Black youth. If you choose to buy, 50% of all proceeds go to The Loveland Foundation Therapy Fund, giving Black women and girls access to high-quality mental health professionals who aren’t able to afford it, and to 100 Black Men of America Inc, a mentorship program for Black youth focusing on education, health & wellness, economic empowerment, and much more. Getting the message out there and starting the discussion is the most important part of the project, and I don’t want money to be a barrier.
