Issue 01 of CubaSeen, Layers/Capas, Print & Digital Edition

showcases stunning photography and short-form written essays.

The theme for our premiere issue is LAYERS and features in-depth photo essays by Cuban photographers Nelson Ramirez De Arellano and Arien Chang Castán paired with U.S. photographers Susan S. Bank and Pulitzer Prize recipient Deanne Fitzmaurice.

Close to a hundred photographers submitted images responding to an open call-for-art on the theme of LAYERS. Several dozen of these images have been curated into a visual dialogue which is interspersed between photo essays. The zine also includes original written-word essays by Yani Monzón and Kate Oberdorfer.
